Glulam & Timber Fabrication

Unmatched Production.
Superior Quality.

See Our Value Stream
Beam and column fabrication is a crucial step in the value chain connecting architectural design to the final, inhabitable structure. Whether building a Mass Timber high rise or a simple pergola, choosing the right fabrication partner is key. Timber fabrication is uniquely challenging due to the “similar but never the same” nature of construction projects and the “last pass for quality” opportunity it presents in the value chain. Many disparate design elements converge at the fabrication stage and that’s why Cascadia Structural has adopted processes that set us apart in Mass Timber offsite manufacturing:

Advanced BIM Modeling

Our BIM Modeling team with over 20 years of industry experience thoroughly and accurately creates or checks shop drawings and 3D models before exporting parts for production. Often mistakes are found that can be mitigated, saving our customers significant time and money and eliminating surprises.

Receiving / Quality Inspection

We inspect incoming wood shipments for completeness, defects, and mistakes, ensuring that there are no delays when production starts. When issues are detected, customers are informed immediately and often with enough time to avoid production delays.

Streamlined Automation

We create manufacturing plans and develop our shop floor documentation well in advance of production start. This ensures that necessary tools are available, jobs are programmed to best leverage our automation capabilities, and all production information required for hand fabrication and packaging is present for our world-class team. The net result is your project is done efficiently and accurately.
We fit all our fabrication projects into value streams that best align their challenges with our capabilities. Projects optimized with DFM (design for manufacturing) have features that are compatible with CNC tools and operations. These projects can be processed at up to a truckload per day. Sometimes, the vision for a project creates barriers to machine-friendly designs. In these cases, we supplement the use of our CNC equipment with expert fabrication from our world-class team.

How We Add Value to Your Glulam & Timber Project:

Packaging

  • Lumber Wrap
  • Labeling
  • Last-Pass Quality Check

Gerry Frank Amphitheater, located in Salem Oregon was machined on both our Hundegger K2 and Kuka Robot. To ensure the best fit each curved member was expertly shaped on our machine to ensure all the unique piece would fit correctly.

Square Weld Relief

Freewell Pavilion, located in Northwest Portland Oregon shows the versatility of both our machines and our fabricators.  The Hundegger K2 cut all of the beveled ends while our fabricators finished up the end kerfs to ensure steel fit correctly onsite.
